1. OBEDIENCE
“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8


2. STRANGERS IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY
Hebrews 11:9 - By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country…”

Hebrews 11:13 - “And they admitted that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (NJKV)

1 Peter 1:1 – “To God’s elect, strangers in the world …”

‘paroikos’ – means ‘resident strangers.’

3. KEEPING OUR DESTINATION IN MIND

Augustine - “Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in thee, O Lord.”

“Instead, they were longing for a better country – a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” Hebrews 11:16

1 Peter 2:11 (Message) - “Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it.”


4. PUSH THROUGH THE DIFFICULT TIMES

“If all difficulties were known at the outset of a long journey, most of us would never start out at all.”
